Infineon and Rambus kiss and make up.

Infineon and Rambus have decided to stop all ongoing legal action and sort out a licensing agreement. The two have been in court alleging patent infringments and worse since the late twentieth century. Earlier this month Rambus had its claim for patent infringements against Infineon thrown out of court. Rambus was accused of shredding key documents ahead of court hearings, the judge agreed and dismissed Rambus"s case against Infineon.

Cray, the supercomputer company, has just released its smallest supercomputer ever and with a price tag to match. While still not exactly cheap, the new Cray CX1 can be configured to be relatively consumer affordable, priced at about the cost of a new Kia sedan.

Nuclear Subs Now Run on Windows.

Microsoft Windows is now powering the British Royal Navy"s nuclear-armed submarine fleet; giving all new meaning to the Blue Screen of Death. It would seem the British Royal Navy and BAE Systems have quite a bit of trust in the Microsoft Windows operating system, as BAE Systems have now finished retrofitting twelve Royal Navy submarines with systems running Windows XP and Windows 2000. The project, called Submarine Command System Next Generation (SMCS-NG), was in the works since 2002, when it was first proposed that commercial PC hardware running Microsoft Windows could be used as a platform for sensor and weapon control applications.

CeBIT 2008: Overclocked ATI HD 3870 X2 by ASUS.

ASUS is showing an overclocked version of the dual-GPU HD3870 X2 card based on ATI"s graphics chips. Its EAH3780X2 TOP/G/3DDHTI/1G features slightly increased GPU and memory clock speeds. The overclocked ASUS EAH3780X2 TOP/G/3DDHTI/1G graphics card The card"s two GPUs are slightly overclocked, running at 851 MHz instead of the stock 825 MHz. The same goes for the DDR3 memory, where the clock speed has been raised from 1800 MHz to 1900 MHz. This tweak allows the ASUS card to reach a 3DMark06 score of 14422.
